PRESIDENT TRUMP ENDORSES RELIGION
By: Derek Varsalona
On Palm Sunday, President Donald Trump endorsed the Christian religion by marking Holy Week with an exclamation of the passion of Jesus Christ suffering on the cross during his crucifixion. I was a bit taken aback by this as I did not expect this type of speech from President Trump or any President. He basically endorsed religion instead of supporting the Constitutional right to the Separation of Church and State.
President Trump and First Lady Melania will join in prayer with Christians everywhere. I applaud him joining in prayer. It is a public and private matter and how one prayers, or how one chooses to pray to which God they choose is their own personal business.
Palm Sunday is a day that which Jesus was received with glory in the town square. Six days later, he was crucified on a cross for our sins. I do not mind a priest talking about this; that is their job. But a politician talking about the crucifixion, I was a little taken aback with the Separation of Church and State in America, even though they also have the freedom to believe or not believe in a God or other deity. As always, comments are accepted.
