TRUMP IS LEAVING AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY BEHIND

LEAVING AMERICAN POLICY BEHIND

By: Derek Varsalona

I applaud President Trump for the negotiations to release hostages.  But the problem with this is America's foreign policy of getting involved in other people's affairs and being the world's policeman.  America should practice a policy of neutrality with at least minor intervention in world affairs.  I do strongly believe that American colonialism and nation-building are the reasons for September 11, 2001.

President Trump has released 47 hostages.  That is something to be praised, but the real question is, why do these hostages remain in the first place?  The reason is that America practices colonialism, butting our nose into other people's business where it does not belong.

Ksenia Karelina is a ballet dancer who was detained in Russia.  Now, why was she detained in Russia?  American foreign policy of intervention has caused that with to America getting involved in the war between Russia and Ukraine.  If America had practiced a foreign policy of not getting involved in this war with troops or otherwise aiding the Ukrainians, this hostage would not have been a hostage.  It is a fact that America's involvement in intervention that Ksenia's life at risk.

Marc Fogel, an American teacher, was also detained in Russia. Again, this was because America is adding Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine war, which Russia is winning.  President Trump wants Russia to win the war since Putin and Trump are good buddies or amigos.

Keith Siegel was freed from Hamas captivity due to President Trump's leadership.  Again, Hamas is a threat, but the U.S. should not be fighting with Hamas on the battlefield until they attack American interests at home or abroad.  The fact of the matter is, our foreign policy of intervention has led to unjust wars and attacks on American interests.  It is precisely the fact that America is acting like the world's Policeman that America is so hated in the world. As always, comments are accepted.
