TEST SCORES ARE LOW FOR STUDENTS

We all know that teachers have a cushy job. I am not far from it either. I have a great job at George Mason University as a Swim instructor. The fact of the matter is that teachers are very rarely fired for bad test performance scores. The fact of the matter is, if a business person pulled those sales numbers as low as teachers' test scores, the businessman would be fired.
So what does that say about the students? The students need their parents working with them, but that is hard if both parents have two jobs each. The test scores are a result of non-parental involvement. Parents need to be involved in their children's academics. They need to go to the Special Education meetings, they need to talk with the teachers, and they need to stay on top of things. I truly believe that a great education will reduce the crime rate in the nation.
As for the teachers, they should be held accountable. 45% of the students in the United States are below basic reading and math levels. Our students can not compete in the real world
The fact of the matter is, these results would not last in the business world. So I have a solution to make teachers accountable. End summer vacation partially, by having mandatory summer school for all teachers to teach and mandatory summer school for all students. Another drop the Master's Degree requirement for teachers and let people teach with a Bachelor's. Lastly, fire the bad teachers and break up all teachers' unions, making teachers independent contractors. As always, comments are accepted.
