BIDEN BATTLES DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
By: Derek Varsalona
I applaud President Biden for attacking Domestic violence head-on. I agree with much of what he put out. Where I disagree with him is that abortion is also domestic violence where the mother assaults and kills her unborn baby.
Yesterday, marked the 30th anniversary of the Violence Against Woman Act. This needs to be renewed and updated. President Biden wrote this very important legislation as a Senator not only because he cares deeply about the issues but it was also a way to get the female votes. I would have voted for this piece of legislation as a legislator.
I applaud President Biden for understanding that Domestic Violence is not a private matter. It violates a person's personal space and privacy. Yesterday, President Biden offered a $690 Million grant to prevent Domestic Violence. But does throwing money at the problem really help? I would suggest all people afraid of domestic violence take self-defense karate classes or any martial arts along with carrying their right to keep and bear arms at times.
President Biden is spending a lot of money on this. That is great. But does throwing money at the problem really help. I believe the money could be better spent by making them grants that people can apply for. Let the people take the money and decide to use it to gain safety classes, martial arts classes, and other self-defense classes. The money would be better spent if they are in the hands of the people and not the federal government. As always comments accepted.
