BIDEN SHOULD GIVE FUNDING LOCALLY FOR STORM DAMAGE
By: Derek Varsalona
I applaud President Biden for acting quickly to give funding to storm-damaged areas of the nation. But where President Biden is off track is that this money should be allocated and controlled by the local politicians and left out of the hands of the federal government. The FEMA response should only be if the local authorities request such assistance. The assistance should not be forced on the people of Tennessee, especially if they do not want the help.
President Biden ordered government assistance for Tennessee. But was this assistance requested yet by the Tennese Governo, Senators, or any other federal official in Tennessee? If not then President Biden should with hold federal funding until assistance is requested. President Biden seems to only do this to get Vice President Kamala Harris elected.
I agree that President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Donald Trump should make their way down to Tennessee to asses the damage and talk with leaders about how much funding is needed. I think if President Trump wants to act president he should fund the entire project out of his personal funds and not use the federal emergency money and keep that money in reserves. As always comments accepted.
