BIDEN HAS THE WRONG APPROACH TO STOP OVERDOSES
By: Derek Varsalona
I am pro-life so I do not support the idea that someone should kill themselves by suicide or overdoses. But if someone is going to overdose there is very little that people can do in time to help. The best approach is to catch the problem before it gets to the point where someone is going to overdose. The fact of the matter is that if someone is trying to overdose then that is a cry for help from the individual.
The legalization of all drugs will stop the overdose deaths I believe. The legalization of all drugs will make people want to come out of the shadows of their addictions. People do not come out of the shadows because they are worried that they will be arrested by the authorities or deal with the authorities in some way.
Locking people up for drugs is just the way to ignore the problem. When they get locked up society is ignoring the issue. These people do not get the help they need. When you need help the best way is to legalize every single drug in America. That will make people come out of the shadows and finally get the help they need if they want to. It should be a personal choice to get clean. It should not be court-mandated that you get clean and sober.
Having an addiction is very hard. I am not addicted to caffeine but I do drink too much coffee and I am dealing with that. I do not know how that addiction started and where it would end. I could easily have four cups of coffee a day. I know that is a problem for me but the way I see it the coffee will not kill me. Getting coffee is a great way to meet a significant other on a date. I am getting help and yes it is an addiction. The way that started was I was addicted to free stuff and then that led to coffee.
The best way to deal with addiction in this country is simple. You are not going to solve the problem by locking people up in institutions or in jail. That is just ignoring the problem and making someone else responsible for the problem mainly the government which makes more problems than they solve.
If you want to reduce the addiction to drugs, the best way is to legalize all drugs. That would make people come out of the shadows and get help for their addictions if they choose to. As always comments accepted.
