SOCIALISM IN THE SAN FRANCISCO SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM
By: Derek Varsalona
They say that the best things in life are free. With a side of socialism. But is anything really free in life. When we look at it someone is always on the hook for something. In the case of public schools, it is the taxpayers. This school year San Francisco Schools is offering free meal programs to all students, not just qualifying students based on need. The fact of the matter is, the taxpayer is on the hook for all these free meals that serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The SFUSD School District will be offering free meals to students. This is not just about students who are economically disadvantaged in society, but all students regardless of income status.
Children 18 and under will be given free meals at all public schools in San Francisco throughout June and July. Look for the same policy to be in place for the remainder of the school year.
I am not totally against this. But children need to learn that nothing in life is free, not even meals. The fact is that in this case, the taxpayer is responsible for all these children and the free meals.
It is not the government's responsibility to feed these children. It is not the taxpayers of San Francisco's responsibility to feed these children. That responsibility comes from the parents to feed their children, not the taxpayer. As always, comments accepted.
There is no free Lunch
