IRAN AND AMERICA TRADE STRIKES IN IRAN

THE WAR IN IRAN CONTINUES WITH STRIKES

By: Derek Varsalona

The recent ceasefire was tragically short-lived. On Thursday, July 9, 2026, both Iran and the United States engaged in a dangerous exchange of strikes. The U.S. launched these attacks in direct response to the escalating assaults on American vessels.

As the conflict deepens, we can expect a significant rise in oil prices. This situation is detrimental to American families and businesses alike. However, it appears that President Trump is indifferent to these consequences, seemingly eager for higher oil prices that benefit his contributors in the oil industry, who generously support the Republican Party.

To bring this war to a swift conclusion, we must consider decisive, albeit extreme, measures. Much like the action taken during World War II, we might contemplate a forceful response that includes crippling Iran’s military capabilities. Yet, we must acknowledge the grave humanitarian implications of such actions. Targeting energy supplies could leave countless vulnerable individuals without essential power for medical equipment and daily living.

While I do not advocate for war, it’s imperative that if we are engaged, we pursue a comprehensive plan to decisively dismantle Iran’s offensive capabilities. Open discussions on this topic are welcomed and necessary.
