CLIMATE CHANGE TO KILL THE CARIBBEAN
By: Derek Varsalona
Last week I was in the Caribbean, Dominican Republic. It seems like me and my family dodged a bullet as Hurricane Beryl left destruction in its wake in Jamaica. Now, the storm heads for the Cayman Islands and Mexico to do more damage. The idea is that 120 MPH winds are heading for islands right in contact. Flooding is expected.
This is an all result of climate change. The storms are getting worse and the storms are more dangerous harming human existence. People need to know to prepare for life-threatening storms. These storms are man-made as people are not careful about their environment. If people do not adapt to their environment then climate change will kill us it is not a hoax.
Hurricane Beverly left destruction in Jamaica. These storms are getting bigger and more fierce than ever before. It may take months or years for Jamaica to recover from the devastation.
Now, it is heading for the Cayman Islands and Mexico. I do not think a major storm can deter illegal immigrants from crossing the US border, but I could be wrong about that. The fact of the matter is that there is no escaping climate change. It affects every single one of us.
There is expected flooding and 120 mph winds damaged the Cayman Island right in the heart of the summer travel season.
I pray for the people affected by the destruction. But it is too late now for people to do anything about climate change. People choose to ignore it and now we swallowed our poison pill. Stay safe. As always comments accepted.
