THROWING MONEY AT EDUCATION WILL NOT HELP
By: Derek Varsalona
I am all for better funding for education. As a former special education student, I support better funding for special education. I even did a swimming fundraiser for special education over many years, where I swam a mile a day when I was younger. But I know that more than just throwing money at the problem is going to solve the problem.
The way to solve problems in education is to have two parents in the house. The two parents need to be involved in the education process of their child. The parents need to ask as a role model for the child. If that does not happen then the government becomes the role model for the child's life and the child is going to most likely be addicted to government benefits. It all starts in the home.
I am all for funding education. But the best way to help children succeed is to have two parents in the house checking the homework. attending the SEPTA and PTA meetings. The parent must be involved in the child's education for the child to succeed.
Throwing money at the problem does not necessarily help. It is just one part of the problem. I applaud President Biden for funding black colleges and education. But unless the parents are involved in the student's life, then all the funding in the world is not going to amount to diddly-squat. As always comments accepted.
